Saturday Birthday Party

Not the best picture quality, but "you'll get the picture" ;)

I've been to a backyard birthday party in the valley all day. How did you spend your Saturday?

The rule

You know the rule, right? Never go to the store hungry! This is what I just came home with. A bigpack of jumbo marshmallows! Since when do I eat jumbo marshmallows?! Or any other marshmallows... But for some reason, seeing them there on the shelf I just had to have them.

Lovely Wednesday

That's us right there :) And some bird?....

At least the latte was really pretty.

Sale, sale!

Yum.

One of my favorite letters..

Apparently I'm not the only one awaiting the arrival!

We had a lovely day in the sun today, mini me and I. He started the day with a long nap so once he woke up again he was well rested and in a good mood and I took advantage of that. I really like going to the Grove with him. It's so stroller friendly with lots of things to look at, people watching, shops, so many interesting food places.. and that it's outdoors is just great. It's so much easier with a baby, or at least mine seems to prefer to be outdoors than in a regular mall or so.
On our way we went to a nearby park and met this cartoon artist who drew our portrait. And then stopped for a cup of coffee at the Farmer's Market. I've wanted to try this coffee shop for some time. I don't know if it's new or not but I recently discovered it among all the other ones. I thought it looked so fresh and European but I didn't quit live up to my expectations, at least not this time. The coffee was bitter and too strong even though I asked for just a single shot of espresso and I chose a double baked croassaint with hazelnuts and it was so very filling I had a hard time finishing it. "E" from Entourage was sitting at a nearby table having lunch by the way, for those of you who are into celebrity spottings.. ;)
After we checked out the sale over at Nordstrom and I fantasized about getting some of all the handbags...or maybe a Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet to go with my Marc by Marc Jacobs bag... (not on sale though). Instead I got a little cute pendant with the letter A and bought it with a Nordstrom gift card I found in my wallet and didn't know I had - yay!
We'll be back soon again, I'm sure. Probably long before "Dylan's candy shop" opens sometimes this fall. (Fun fact: Dylan is the daughter of Ralp Lauren). The area Third and Fairfax really keeps getting better and better. More bars/restaurants have opened up and a huge and super nice Trader Joe's (grocery store) just got here too. So "meet me at Third and Fairfax!";)

My first earthquake

As you see, it didn't scare me too much ;)
Living in LA means experiencing an earthquake every now and then. Hopefully just small ones!.. There has been a couple of them while I've been here but this is the first one I've actually felt. The last one I was in the car and didn't feel a thing. And I was quite bummed about it. Early this morning, around 3 am, I woke up from the windows shaking. My first thought was if my baby would be safe of course, then when it stopped just some seconds later, I soundly went back to sleep again. Until someone let me know he was hungry that is... Apparently it was a 3.8 magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter in Marina Del Ray.

Pretty Valentina

Another pretty bottle for my collection. "Valentina" from Valentino. Anyone who knows what it smells like?

My little Gaga

Ha, I just found this pic and had to steal it and share. Lady Gaga as My Little Pony.

Sunday funday

My agent and friend stopped by to meet the little one today. We had a great time, catching up and drinking mimosas and eating my Nutella swirled cupcakes I baked this morning. Why are weekends always so short though? Because they are fun? Wonderful is short, isn't that what they say? :)
Ps. Using an ice cream scoop to fill the forms with the batter was very practical. Not as messy as when using a regular spoon!

Mundane Monday?

Like I did yesterday, spice up your Monday with some champagne and cheese ;) Why save it for the weekend when it's probably on a Monday it's needed the most?

Officially grown up

I went to dinner at some friend's house yesterday. There we were, three couples and three kids. And a dog. I was sitting by the dinner table sipping on a glass of wine, my baby sleeping in his car seat next to me, the toddlers running around and the dog barking in the background, while we all were waiting for a cup of coffee after dinner. Coffee after dinner, just a thing like that! Because then it hit me, if it never had before: I'm a grown up! I've always seen myself as so young, maybe because I'm the youngest out of two sisters. I wasn't one of those kids feeling grown up right after high school. But something must have happened along the way, because here I am today. Group dates, husband and a kid, coffee after dinner and everything else that tells me I have grown up. I don't think I will ever loose the kid in me though, even if I now have one myself. See, I'm still someone's kid too.

Good mistake

I accidentally shoot this image when out walking yesterday. I think it's a great one. And I look so determined in my step, don't I? :) It was the end of a very long walk so I was glad to almost be home.

Bye bye Blackberry

I choose a white one. Tired of black since the Blackberry with all its issues.
I so needed a new phone, my Blackberry has been having issues ever since I got it years ago. I must have had bad luck and gotten a really bad copy. And it just continued to get worse. So when I finally decided to get ride of it for another one, I went with an iphone instead. Wow, I'm already loving it. I'm not very tech savvy at all or even very interested in that field. I'm still using a journal where I write down my appointments with a pen and those sort of things but now I don't understand how I could be without one for so long!

Baked comfort

A home that scents like something is baking in the oven is a good home. That's what I think. It's the most comfy feeling when the aroma of the cake or pie or cookies surround the house. I grew up with that and that's how I want my son to grow up. I want him to come home from school to freshly baked cookies and a glass of milk. Like in the movies, I know. But for some reason I feel that no harm can be done in a home that smells of oatmeal cookies or cinnamon buns. Of course I know that isn't true, but if one can create a feeling of at least a little bit of security with something so easy, why not to. I just baked an orange cake with chocolate icing. It's a cake my mom used to make for me. And soon my little mini me will have his mom make it for him.

Cool spot

They have this new really nice bar/restaurant at the Grove, with a top floor view, overlooking all the people walking by underneath. We stopped there last night and enjoyed some refreshments. I would love to go back another time too when I'll have more time for things like that. I'm really into nice outdoor places for summer.

Last night...

Back to work

I just got back home from my first photo shoot since having my baby six weeks ago. I'm happy of course, that I was able to bounce back this quickly and being able to work again, even though my main focus right now is to be a mom. We shot images for a watch brand, on location in the Hollywood Hills. A hectic and a a bit chaotic but fun shoot! It was nice to get out of the house and take a brake in all the diaper changing ;) But I missed my baby so much too. I know he was in the best of hands though! With daddy.

Christian Louboutin makeup

The shoe God goes into the world of makeup. Late 2013 we will be able to enjoy not only his red soles but also paint our lips with the signature color. I have a pair of beauties in my wardrobe but wouldn't mind the brand in my makeup bag too.

The beauty of a rock

I noticed this enormous new rock (hard not to!) when walking around LACA the other day. It's so beautiful, isn't it? Compared to all the famous paintings hanging on the walls inside of the museum, how can a simple rock be so eye catching? Probably because of the strength and power of something nature created. It's hard to compete with that.

My 4th of July

Sunglasses from a dollar store, T-shirt - Splendid, Jeans shorts - Levi's (that I designed myself), Bracelet - Marc by Marc Jacobs, Sandals - Michael Kors

Happy Independence Day everyone! I'm happy to say I'm both a proud Swede AND an American. Today I celebrated like most of my fellow Americans do - with hot dogs on the grill and lots of sun. I didn't take a dip into the pool though but my little guy dipped his cute tiny toes in the blue water for the first time.

Why so negative..

But I smile a lot ;)
I read somewhere that 60 000 thoughts go through our minds every day. And 80 percent of those are negative... That's just too bad! I wish I could say I was different but unfortunately I don't think I am. I can be a very negative person actually. I try to have a positive outlook here on the blog and focus on good things because I want to use it as a positive place to lift myself up and hopefully others too. But in general I have an "expect the worst and hope for the best" mentality I think. Thinking positive thoughts really makes us happier though, I really believe that. So are we all starting today?

The best apple pie?

I'm glad I'm back to baking. I've missed it. During the third trimester I was too tired and the first weeks with the little one everything was just too overwhelming to be able to get anything done in the kitchen. Now when whipping up a cake and baby sleeping in his swing next to me, I feel like super mom :)

Must be at least one of them. You know me, I LOVE a god apple pie. I've always done. From mom's that we used to get on Sunday evenings when growing up, to grandma's to my own with oatmeal or perhaps the one where the crust is like caramel. When I saw the recipe of this one in a Swedish magazine my mom brought with her when coming over, I thought it sounded so delicious. And it didn't disappoint. A crumble crust with melted butter, coconut flakes and lemon peel offers an interesting fresh touch to the traditional crumble pie. Mmmm! It's not short of calories though...think I need a long walk with the stroller after this...
